About Unblocktober
Unblocktober is the world’s first month-long national campaign and awareness month to improve the health of our drains, sewers, watercourses and seas - all driven completely by the British public.
Participants can sign up for Unblocktober as an individual or a business and pledge to avoid certain habits that contribute to drain blockages and plastic pollution for the entire month of October. The challenge encourages them to avoid putting polluting items and substances down their sinks or toilets, including fat, oil and grease (FOG), food waste and items that contain hidden plastics, such as wet wipes, face masks, sanitary products and nappies.
Unblocktober is an initiative founded by Lanes Group plc, a national wastewater and drainage solutions provider. The campaign was launched in 2019, and nearly 32,000 participants have signed up to take part in Unblocktober to date.
